Classes are offered in 2 main formats: live and self-paced. Additionally, we have a mentoring program, although these are not specifically "classes." Live classes are classes which run every week and take place in a Zoom room. They will take place with a group of up to 10 students and at least one experienced instructor.
Live classes may also feature additional components, such as:
Graded quizzes and assignments
Material which is not covered in class to read at home
Things to purchase for class (like lab supplies)
Please note that by signing up for a live class we expect that you commit to attending the class. Instructors take much time to prepare these classes for students, and not showing up is understandably annoying to them. Although many classes do have the additional components listed above, please note that they are not required unless you would like a grade from the course.
On the other hand, all self-paced courses are for a grade. You can take self-paced courses at any time and on any device simply by logging into our platform, which even works on our mobile members app. Currently, we only offer trials of our self-paced academic courses but the first full courses will be launching in September of 2021, and we also have some full co-curricular courses launched here. In these types of courses, you are expected to complete a lesson every 2 week days (so 5 lessons every 2 weeks) which each include a quiz or assignments which can be submitted to your instructor or turned in via the form in the lesson.
The self-paced classes do have an instructor who you can reach out to via email but do not include any live classes. If you do need help with class content and this cannot be resolved via email, you can find a mentor via our "Mentors" page and book a time slot with them. Check that the mentor you choose has experience in the field in which you have questions by seeing which subjects they are happy to mentor in. Some self-paced courses will also offer you the opportunity to book a tutoring session at the end for that specific subject.
