Standardized Testing
For all of our courses, we offer an optional standardized test option. For each grade level, students may also take an optional grade-level standardized exam. Sometimes, these standardized tests are provided by the BIET (Bada Institute of Educational Testing), although students are registered for these tests through the T4N Pinnacle Academy, a BIET member school.
BIET tests are completed online in a proctored environment and are managed by BIET staff. By taking a BIET subject-specific test, a student does not need to take the final exam for that subject - instead, their score on the BIET exam serves as an alternative to a Pinnacle Academy final exam score.
The tests offered through the BIET at the Pinnacle Academy are:
-
ESEST (Elementary School Educational Standards Testing): this test series involves subject specific tests (e.g. ESEST MATH 4), grade specific tests (e.g. ESEST 4) and an overall test (ESESTP)
-
MSEST (Middle School Educational Standards Testing): this test series involves subject specific tests (e.g. MSEST ENGLISH 7), grade specific tests (e.g. MSEST 7) and an overall test (MSESTP)
-
HSEST (High School Educational Standards Testing): this test series involves subject specific tests (e.g. HSEST ALG 1), grade specific tests (e.g. HSEST 9) and an overall test (HSESTP)
-
CRA (College Readiness Assessment): this is a single test which covers literacy, numeracy, verbal and nonverbal reasoning to present as a score for CRA-score accepting colleges
Subject-specific tests are offered to all of our students, but both grade specific tests and overall (Elementary School, Middle School and High School) tests are only offered to full-time students.
In addition to the BIET standardized tests which we offer, we also give students the opportunity to take all levels of the following state-recognized tests (as an approved testing administrator):
-
Stanford 10 (Grade 3-12)
-
Iowa Form E (Grade K-11 & 12)
-
Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (Levels A-G)
-
Cognitive Ability Test (Levels 5/6- 17/18
